Dr. Elias

Dr. Elias is a distinguished specialist in general surgery and a leading figure in bariatric surgery, currently practicing at the Nairobi Bariatric Center. With a wealth of experience and a strong academic background, Dr. Elias exemplifies excellence in the field of weight loss and gastrointestinal surgery.

Dr. Elias earned his M.B.Ch.B. from the University of Baghdad’s College of Medicine, graduating in 1999. His education continued with a PhD from Uppsala University in Sweden, awarded in January 2022. His doctoral thesis, titled “Changes in Gastrointestinal Function and Patient-scored Symptoms after Bariatric Surgery,” reflects his deep engagement in understanding and advancing bariatric surgery outcomes.

Dr. Elias’s training and expertise are further underscored by his completion of a rigorous three-year national course for specialists in upper gastrointestinal surgery (SÖK) between 2015 and 2018, and his certification as a Specialist in General Surgery by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare since March 2014. He has held memberships with the Swedish Surgical Society since 2009.
