From Bershad' to Nairobi: how Dr. Shchukin brought gold-standard bariatric care to East Africa.
Born in Kyrgyzstan to Ukrainian Veterinarian parents, little Vladimir brought joy to people around him from a young age with his quick wit, vast intellect, and musical skill.
Dr. Shchukin studied at Vinnytsia Medical University in Ukraine. He later specialized in General Surgery in Donetsk, studying English with the hopes of leaving the Soviet Union in search for a better life.
What was first meant to be a few years abroad turned into almost 3 decades. In 1994, Dr. Shchukin and his family moved to Kenya where they lived and worked in Eldoret Hospital and Aga Khan Kisumu, before opening their own practice in Eldoret in 2002.
Dr. Shchukin and his family finally settled in Nairobi where the husband and wife team founded Nairobi Bariatric Center in 2008. They worked hard and expanded to service thousands of people and impact countess lives.
Nairobi Bariatric Center continues Dr. Shchukin's legacy of excellence, offering world-class weight loss surgeries and comprehensive aftercare programs in Kenya.
