Dr. Lydmila Shchukina is a distinguished physician with over 30 years of experience in weight loss and obesity treatment. As the co-founder of the Nairobi Bariatric Center, she has played a pivotal role in advancing obesity care in Kenya. Her development of the “Method of Psychological Correction of Eating Habits” has been a cornerstone in treating obesity effectively over the past two decades.

She is a prominent member of several esteemed professional organizations, including The Obesity Society (TOS), the Association for Integrative and Psychosomatic Medicine (AIPM), the Kenya Association of Physicians (KAP), the Kenya Association of Family Physicians (KAFP), the Kenya Medical Association (KMA), and the East African Diabetic Study Group (EADSG).

Her specialization lies in the comprehensive management of obesity and its related conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and infertility. She employs a holistic approach, considering psychological, social, metabolic, anatomical, and environmental factors in patient care. Her experience also includes providing primary care at Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu, and Eldoret Hospital Limited, where she emphasized preventive health measures. Her early career began at Bershad’ Regional Hospital in Ukraine, where she gained extensive experience in general patient care.
